I wanted to share a little story about my Mom's old house. We sold it not too long ago, and while the process itself was a bit bittersweet, there's a small part of it that makes me smile and fills my heart.
You see, in my Mom's backyard, there were these beautiful rose bushes that were planted by my Mom herself. They'd been there for as long as I could remember, and my mom had poured her heart into taking care of them. So, when it came time to sell Mom's home, I really didn't want to let go of those rose bushes that meant so much to her.
During the negotiations with the buyer, we had a heart-to-heart about it. I explained how much those roses meant to my mom and me, and surprisingly, the buyer totally got it. We managed to work it out, and officially, those roses were excluded from the Agreement of Purchase and Sale.
Even though it's not the most earth-shattering news, it meant a lot to us. It showed that there's room for understanding and kindness in all the legal stuff that goes into selling a house.
I was able to dig up the bushes and move them to my backyard, where I will be caring for them for years to come, which is like keeping a little piece of our family history alive.
