Exploring Medical Spas in Guelph: A Guide to Botox, Fillers, and Feeling Your Best

Andra Arnold • September 11, 2024

Medical spas have become increasingly popular as more people explore treatments that offer subtle enhancements and rejuvenation. Whether it’s smoothing out wrinkles with Botox or adding fullness to your lips with fillers, there’s a growing interest in these procedures. However, not everyone feels comfortable sharing their aesthetic choices, and that’s perfectly okay!

In this post, we’re going to talk about the options available at medical spas, the stigma that still surrounds treatments like Botox and fillers, and, of course, where you can go in Guelph to get a little (or a lot!) of work done.

Botox, Fillers, and the Quiet Confidence Boost

For many, including myself, Botox is about subtle enhancement—like keeping those “11s” (the vertical lines between your eyebrows) from getting too deep, while still looking like myself. I’ve found it’s more about maintaining a fresh appearance rather than dramatically changing how you look.

In addition to Botox, I’ve also had my lips filled, but that was quite some time ago. Honestly, it wasn’t my favorite experience because I didn’t feel like I looked like me. That being said, there was one time when fillers really came to the rescue. I once burned my lip on some very hot spanakopita (yes, food accidents happen!) and ended up with a noticeable divot in my lip. Fillers smoothed it out, which was a funny and unexpected reason to get the treatment. Even though I don’t typically go for lip fillers now, it was a great fix in that moment!

Beyond Botox: Exploring Other Popular Treatments

While Botox and fillers are well-known, there are so many other options for skin rejuvenation that don’t involve injectables. I regularly get treatments like IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), microdermabrasion, microneedling, and Clear and Brilliant at Natalie Madden Laser and Spa (1460 Gordon St, Guelph, ON N1L 1C8).  These treatments help keep my skin fresh and smooth without altering my natural features, which is something I value.

I’ve also had Clear and Brilliant done at Luminosity Studios (848 Gordon St Suite 103, Guelph, ON N1G 1Y7).

For those looking for deeper treatments, I’ve also tried Fraxel at Breath Med Spa (403 Arkell Rd Unit 7A, Guelph, ON N1L 1E5), which is great for improving skin texture and reducing scars or pigmentation. Another standout was the Morpheus treatment, which I had for my neck at the now-closed Guelph Medical Spa. It’s a more intense treatment that works wonders for tightening and lifting the skin.

Skin Tightening, IPL, and Other Options

For those who aren’t quite ready for injectables, there are plenty of non-invasive options that still provide fantastic results. Treatments like IPL are especially good for targeting discoloration or pigmentation, leaving the skin more even-toned. Skin tightening treatments can also give the skin a firmer, smoother appearance without any downtime. These options are perfect for anyone looking to dip their toes into the world of aesthetics without diving into injectables.

Of course, if you’re ready for more dramatic results, there are more intense options available, like cosmetic surgery. Guelph Facial Plastics, located at 834 Gordon St, offers a range of procedures, from Botox and fillers to cosmetic surgeries.

If you're looking for a luxury experience, AFYA Medical Spa (55 Delhi St, Guelph, ON N1E 4J7) is another great option. They offer a variety of medical aesthetics treatments.

Recently opened, The Brain and Body Co (89 Surrey St E, Guelph, ON N1H 3P7) also offers a range of wellness and aesthetics services.

A Final Thought on Beauty and Self-Love

I believe it’s important to love yourself, and while sometimes our appearance can play a part in that, it’s certainly not the whole story. Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, colors, ages, genders, and fluidity. At the end of the day, we’re only as beautiful as we are on the inside. With that said, some of us do feel the need to have things done to help us feel better, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. It’s not for anyone to judge. I’m happy to share my experiences with anyone who’s curious or wants to know more. I don’t think we should have to hide it when we have work done—unless that’s what you want, and that’s completely okay too.

There’s nothing to be embarrassed about when you’re doing something for yourself. If people ever ask and you’re feeling shy about it, just tell them your Botox is for migraines—because fun fact, it’s actually prescribed for that too! Feel free to reach out to me or my team if you ever have any questions. Hopefully about real estate, but if it’s about this or anything else, we’re always happy to help.
