“For as long as I can remember, I have loved flowers, botanical designs and doodling. After 2020 threw us for a loop, I decided I needed a new hobby to keep me busy and manage my stress. My husband gifted me my first line art book and I began practising. Hours of drawing and creating really soothed the soul. After a few attempts, I was hooked!

Over the past few months, I have received an outpour of support and encouragement from friends and family. After many requests to start a page, I have finally delivered! Thank you for following along on this new adventure!” -Jenn

Originally from Canada’s east coast, Jeff Mumford is a Guelph photographer who enjoys capturing images of the historic cityscapes and landscapes in Guelph and its surrounding areas. Jeff’s photography has a moody feel and showcases the beauty in the ordinary.
“For the past few years, my art has been dealing with abstraction through overlap, repetition and referencing familiar shapes. These shapes include people or body parts, poles and open architectural structures. I often depict open structures, particularly unfinished buildings, collapsed bridges or roller coasters because I have always found them to resemble a real life contour line drawing.
Images of crammed spaces or crowds of people when broken down remind me of circular doodles and scribbles. I combine these different forms to generate a multipart and often puzzling composition” – April

“Flow state is the highly pleasurable sync between body and mind, being completely absorbed in effortless momentum. I find that idealist bliss by intuitively applying paint to substrate. That intense emotional experience is as vital to me as breathing.”

“Nature is the impetus for my creative process. For me, the process of art-making has at its core a contemplative, spiritual understanding of the natural world. My response is to select, distill, convert and arrange textures, shapes, marks and colours that emerge primarily from a feeling or a recollection of landscape.” – Nancy Farrell
