Housing prices in K-W typically fall somewhere between Guelph and Toronto. A market summary report for February 2024 shows that Kitchener home prices decreased by 1% year-over-year, while prices of Waterloo homes increased by 6% year-over-year. Kitchener-Waterloo restaurants offer various dining options, from trendy cafes to upscale dining, reflecting its diverse population.

Getting Around: Exploring Your New City:

Guelph has a public transit system, but it’s less robust than Kitchener and Waterloo. You can take the city bus to connect different neighbourhoods and key locations; however, owning a car can benefit those who value convenience and wish to explore the region more extensively.


The Guelph commute to Toronto is as easy as going to 79 Carden Street and taking the GO Train. It runs every four hours and takes approximately 1.5 hours to get to Toronto Union Station. 


Kitchener-Waterloo has a well-developed public transportation system that’s convenient for residents and visitors. The extensive bus network covers various neighbourhoods, connecting residential areas with shopping districts, schools, and employment hubs. 


A highlight of K-W's public transit infrastructure is the ION rapid transit system, which includes a light rail line (LRT). The ION LRT connects Kitchener and Waterloo, providing a rapid mode of transportation between the two cities. This modern and efficient system enhances connectivity and is ideal for those who prefer a car-free lifestyle or want to minimize their environmental footprint.
